A Little Bit of History…

This stately home, known today as the Maison Bourgogne, was next to the covered food market built in 1379 and demolished in 1896. They were erected over the rural grounds known as “du Manège” belonging to the children of Clugny (Gentilhomme).
This beautiful building dates back to the 15th century. However, the facade does not exclusively reflect the Middle Ages. It features a rich Renaissance shop window, decorated with grotesque motifs and lion heads, as well as a bartizan attached to the staircase turret. This bartizan clearly reveals the glorious past of this home: it reaffirms the presence of a noble with authority or a person who wishes to reaffirm his nobleness.
Beginning in 1860, Maison Bourgogne housed Confectioner Bourgogne’s shop. This is where its current name comes from: Maison Bourgogne is not named after the region but rather its owner.
Mr Noblat’s biscuit factory was set up here in 1920 and in 1926, the home was classified.
